Full-Time Veterinary Technician

Are you an outgoing, lively, stimulating communicator who truly enjoys a fast-paced environment? Do you have a passion for animals and are interested in helping with veterinary duties? Are you able to handle phone calls with an accommodating attitude and have the ability to contribute as a team member? If you enjoy being around people and pets, this could be the position for you!

The successful candidate must have excellent office skills, be computer savvy, have an outgoing personality and display a helpful attitude.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with X-rays

  • Draw blood from animals and run blood work

  • Weigh animals for surgery and take temperature

  • Prep animals for surgery

  • Administer catheters

  • Inputting surgery animals charges into the computer

  • Putting together surgery packs every night

  • Have surgery animals pain medicine, etc ready to go home and hanging on cages

  • Pulling charts for daily appointments, and getting report cards filled out accurately

  • Get weight & temp for appointments, find out what they are being seen for

  • Cleaning up after animals

  • Monitoring post-surgery animals

  • Call clients daily after pet has had surgery to make sure they are doing okay

  • Administer medications to surgery animals

  • Assist front desk with scheduling

  • Answer multi-line phone & schedules appointments via phone and website

  • Help doctor with large animal cattle work when needed

  • Walk surgery dogs each morning and make sure they are given their pain medicine.

  • Check to make sure all dogs are current on vaccinations, deworming, fecal, heartworm check and flea/tick treatment

  • Keep lab, surgery room and exam rooms organized and clean

  • Check surgery and medical patients in and out of the hospital

  • Order supplies

  • Maintain patient records & files

  • Log laboratory samples

  • Track rebates for preventative medications

  • Type hospital documents

  • Wash and dry laundry for surgery animals

The hours are ideal if you would like to work 36 – 40 hours/week. This includes a 4-hour shift every other Saturday morning.

Animal Health Center shirts provided or you are free to wear medical scrubs!

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. (pet food and/or animals)

  • Candidates must be able to assist veterinarians and technicians with the animals, diagnostics and their care.

  • Candidates must be energetic, optimistic and a pet and people loving person!

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years’ experience is preferred.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Knowledgeable in computers (Word)

  • Excellent communicator with a pleasant personality.

  • Ability to deal with clients in a mature manner.
